check engine light question

Weird one here,

My check engine light went on yesterday, a day after my maintainence minder light came on. I checked my oil, a little low, so I added a quart. I'm gonna change it all tonight, just wondering if anyone else has had this happen before.. Oddly enough, when my engine light came on my cruise control wouldn't turn on either. Seems to be working now.

Check engine light and oil level/maintenance minder are unrelated and completely coincidental. Get the code pulled, could be an indicator of coil packs going out or some intermittent problem that will just get worse if unchecked.

May have been a fluke but probably worth checking out when you have time.

You should be able to rent a code reader from Autozone for free. Or just buy one for $20 or so at Harbor Freight. Mine's working great after 6 years.
