when i first turn the car on. its shakes. when it warms up, its fine. does this sound normal or a mantenence issue arising?

How long do you have to warm up the car?
Does your car die if you don't warm it up?
If it's around 5 to 10 minutes to warm up, then it's time for you to get your valves adjusted.

 

I've always considered it normal. It goes away after like 2-3 minutes. Maybe less.

 

Well if you want the engine to run smoothly, then warm it up for a few minutes. But after you start the car it'll die and that's the valves

 

My car is doing this. I plan on having the valve lash done soon. Its worse in cold weather. But if I start it and immediately try to drive off and then come to a stop sign before the engine reaches normal operating temp, it'll die. I can kick it into neutral if I have to stop and it'll level out.

its only lasts for a couple minutes. never stalls. when it warms, it runs perfect.

none of my other cars have ever done this. they all rev higher until the iacv warms but they don't shake like chiwawaus

 

Happens when you have a pint-sized 1.5L!

 

How many miles are on the fit? Torn mounts will only increase the problem as the fit ages.

 

Mine used to do that too, for like 30-50 seconds after a cold startup. I adjusted the valves and it would run smooth from the start.

You can wait for it to get bad enough that you do stall, or you can adjust it now and it'll run smooth from the start.
