cyl. 1 misfire,again.
Hey folks! Seems I'm having reoccurring issue. Over 2000 r.p.m,no.1 cyl. misses. I have adjusted the valves, new plugs, switched coil packs. Have always used quality fuel.At 152K,my thoughts are cam wear, lifters, timing chain/tensioner.But some advise before throwing cash at the wrong idea would be great.I've owned this cutie since 8200 mil.and want to drive forever!
I'm not sure if this will help but i had an integra and the same issue and i spent about 1500 bucks to try and fix it but the real issue was the dumbest thing i didn't check. Since you did new plugs i would make sure the spacing is correct because sometimes they say that the they are pre spaced and come out to be not spaced so i would just double check that. Also at 100k the timing belt is to be replaced so if you hadn't done that yet i would definitely look into doing that next. i hope this helps
Sadie mentioned the timing CHAIN (not a belt). As long as the oil was changed on schedule, this should not be a problem at 150K miles. Bad timing chain tensioner would be noisy in my experience with other cars.
I always check plug gap before installation...have been "tricked" more than once by out-of-spec electrode gaps.
Cam wear should be a visual with the valve cover off.
I'd have a compression test done. If good, THEN change all the coil packs....
