When I accelerate and the engine is at 2500 rpm it feels like a minute seizure. The car convulses. Once past 3k rpm it is smooth. Sometimes at idle the engine feels like it hiccups.

Is this coil/spark plug related?

 

It's most likely related to coil packs since you get hiccups at idle as well. But since you claim that after 3k RPM it runs fine then it could also be the valves. Because in most cases the coil packs perform worse at higher RPMs.

 

I had a similar issue. Throw some new plugs in it and troubleshoot after that.
