Automatic shifter light

Is the console shifter selector illuminated (does the gear selection light up)? Mine is not lit. Did it burn out or was it never lit. I think it was, but I could be wrong. Want to know before I remove the console.

It is lit, yes. Only when the headlights are turned on though.

Not sure, I tried looking around. If you're gonna open up the console you might as well just pull the old bulb out and see what it is,

Would like to have the new one on hand to save time. Remove console, replace bulb, reinstall console without having to run to town, and possibly wait for a hard to find bulb.

I've got an 07 Sport auto with 143k. Mine doesn't light up at all. If someone finds a part number on the light, please post it here.

How do you open up the console to replace the bulb? Ours in our 2008 Fit just went out too, and I don't want to dismantle the whole console just to change one tiny lightbulb. Also, anyone know which fuse controls the bulb? Maybe it's just a blown fuse, which would be much easier to change than the bulb.

The console has to be removed to get access to the bulb; it doesn't have a separate fuse

Dang, I was afraid if that. Would be too easy to make it accessible...

Can the grey oval shaped piece around the shifter itself (has the P, R, N, D, D1, etc. in it too) be removed or at least loosened? I would think logically this should come off far enough to change the bulb...

The center console is easy to remove. 2 push clips, 2 screws, the auxiliary & accessory socket connectors and MAYBE the parking brake cover/lid if I recall correctly then it tilts up and out the way.

anybody knows what is part number for this bulb? Thanks.

I found the part. there are two part numbers P/N 35505-692-003 and P/N 35505-TA5-A51. This is for GE8, not sure if its the same for GD.
