It's stuck on with a kind of double sided tape. Just use some good ole elbow persuasion (yanking) and it should come off easily. I even reattached it by simply reusing the same adhesive strip.

When I installed mine I didn't need to take off the entire cowl, just the corner plastic/rubber piece on the bottom of the windshield. It has little rubber nipples that will break off, so be careful. I also couldn't get them back in the little holes when I was done so I just left the piece there for a few years. When I got my windshield replaced the person snapped that piece back in for me. Good luck!

How were you able to reach the back bolt? Just a regular closed end wrench? I can't get in there with a socket

I can't remember. Do you have a socket extender? I might have used one of those or one of those things that has a flexible angle on it. It didn't come with instructions?

Try these threads for more information: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/1st-...pers-help.html, https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/1st-...tall-help.html, https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/gaug...od-damper.html. Those might help. I swear mine either came with instructions or I lucked out and found out how to do it somewhere on here. Heaven knows I can't do stuff by myself which is why I'm thankful to have found this forum because everything I want to do has already been done.

Will it at least close a little, or is the hood stuck all the way open? If it will close most of the way but won't latch you may have to tweak the rubber nipples on the crossframe to allow the hood to close all the way. I'm glad you finally got it. Now that you mention it, taking off the wipers sounds faintly similar to what I had to do when I installed my damper. Crap, I'll still pop my hood sometimes just to play with the damper!

They're black/dark-colored pieces of hard rubber that have little slits in them. They are about the size of a US nickel on the bottom and are somewhat conical. Look on the top part of the frame that connects the left fender and the right fender together (above your AC condensor and radiator) and they should be near the fenders. I would post a picture of what they look like but I'm not near my Fit right now and I can't upload pictures to FitFreak because I don't have a third-party photo hosting account. The rubber things are about 3/4 of an inch tall and can be twisted to raise/lower them to allow the hood to close. Did you have any problems before the damper install?

i actually don't know i got frustrated and took it off hahaha but i will tinker with it again soon. i think honestly it might just be too much resistance for such a light hood? not sure.

Previc93 has a carbon fiber hood and the damper, so I know the combination works. If you leave the hinge on but remove the damper rod does the hood still not close all the way? Dumb question, but I have to ask because sometimes we overlook the simplest things, but did you leave any tools in the engine bay that would prohibit the hood from fully closing?

Did you attach it like in the bottom photograph on this page: Type One Racing :: Engine :: Fit/Jazz (GD3/4) :: T1R Engine Hood Damper - Honda Fit 07-08 GD3?

I got it! I was out in the garage playing with my because damper and it came to me. Put your damper back on and slowly close the hood while you look underneath the hood at the damper rod. Is it hitting on the front (part closest to bumper) part of your engine fuse box? That may be the reason why your hood will not fully close with the damper rod on it. What I did to remedy that problem that I had was I put about .25-.5 inches of washers under the bolt that attaches to the headlight. That lifts the front end up just enough to clear the fuse box and will let the hood close without putting pressure on the fuse box.
