2007 Fit Sport 101k miles - Dealer wants to put new engine
My 07 Fit has been making ticking noises like a diesel truck. A quick search on the internet shows that many people think it's a valve clearance issue. I still have my HondaCare warranty. Took it to dealer #1 and they said they don't think it's the valves. Something with the rod end bearings. They want to replace most of the engine components.
Me being curious, took it to dealer #2. They said nothing wrong with the engine. Told me the sound was normal sounds from the VTC actuator and fuel injectors.
Went back to dealer #1 and asked if it could be normal sounds from the VTC actuator. (My philosophy being why mess with something if it's not broke). To my surprise, dealer says there's no such thing as a VTC actuator on an 07 Fit.
My warranty ends next year and not sure if I should go ahead and let dealer #1 tear the engine apart to replace everything.

Does it sound like metal ticking? If it is then it's valves, that dealership #1 is stupid because they just want you to spend more money. Go to either one and tell them you want them to do a valve adjustment and that's all.
Re: your post
I have what sounds like a similar situation with my 2007 Honda fit Sport also. It had to be towed in and from the information I have gotten on it, for mine there was a seal that leaked oil all of the sudden and driving it just a few blocks was enough to have to now replace the engine.
I'm also trying to decide (quickly unfortunately) whether I want to have them replace the engine, or just get a new car. I've heard thoughts both ways, and I just don't know how much longer I'll get out of the car if I put in a new engine.
Sounds like a similar situation, though I am not under warrenty, and my engine probably really does need to be replaced. Still a similar decision.

It sounds like you have had your fit for a while, how many miles are on it? have the valves ever been adjusted? I would start with getting that taken care of first.
the Honda fit injectors are notoriously noisy. I solved that problem by using a hondata flashpro and installing rdx injectors. However this decision was made in preparation for a turbo so its not a cheap solution.
