TPMS light on GD3

122K. Within the last month, my dash light has varied between the underinflated tire icon and the TPMS light. Now it's TPMS only, which makes me think one or more sensors is kaput. Tires are all at rated pressure, BTW.

I know that when one sensor goes, the others may be next...so what's the best way to approach this from a frugal standpoint? Tire place or Walmart with TPMS diagnostics and replace with generic sensors? Buy sensors or rebuild kits myself online and have someone else install & program? Curious how others dealt with this.

Thanks in advance!

Costco does TPMS for cheap. I would see what they offer.

Thanks! Stopped by Costco today.

Tire dept was swamped day before the holiday, but found out they have diagnostics, install is $15 plus the sensor (which they didn't have on hand, would have to order) at $40. So maybe a smidge less than $60 all in with tax for one sensor replacement. FYI for anyone else...

I believe the US made it mandatory that all 2008 model have TPMS. It was either 2006 or 2008. I'm spacing on this for some reason when I should know this since its my job hahaha.

Rollerboots, your first thought is correct - mandatory in US starting in '08, which mine happens to be. '07 exempt from this foolishness.

Yeah its good and bad at the same time. You can ride around without it and just deal with the TPMS light. That's what I do on race day or when I cruise around on the Volks.

show a photo of both an underinflated tire icon and TPMS icon. my dash only has the TPMS icon and it lites when the tire pressure goes below 26 psig. it is possible for the lite to be intermittent as the tire flexes.

The underinflated icon is an exclamation point inside a tire tread. Can't show a photo of it on my dash as it is no longer lit with the TPMS light on constantly.

Here's what I gather:

Underinflated tire icon - system detects low pressure in one or more tires, but system is working.

TPMS - system is not working and is unable to detect all four pressures. Typically it means one or more sensors is kaput.

exempt from this foolishness.
And that is exactly what it is. I have two vehicles that have actual sensors in the wheels, and a Toyota Corolla that uses external hardware to determine wheel spin. Toyota works perfect...but my Chrysler has cost me over $100 for new inside-the-wheel sensors, plus the install, plus the fact that I've already have one sensor that's dead after only three years. I get a warning signal from the car about every 15 minutes when driving, so I need to fix it again.

This is correct. My TPMS light comes on when I race due to my race wheels not having TPMS sensors in them. This only comes when I hit about 25 miles.
