Coil on plug mounting screw torque
Coil on plug mounting screw torque
I should use some censored words to describe an idiot who had a privilege to install coils on my Fit.
After reading few threads about broken coil mounting screws I wanted to test mine for break away torque.
Long story short I had to use 25 foot pounds break-away torque on M6 screw
(max torque is 10 foot pounds on strength class 10.5 metric M6 screw).
Thankfully I was able to remove all of them without breaking but now I fully understand why some of these screws are getting broken.
On my friend's 2008 Accord I removed these screws with 1/4 inch drive ratchet at 130k mile mark on warm (40 degrees C) engine.
So for those are planning to do the spark plugs be sure to use 6 point socket
I would not be surprised if my flywheel will fly away on highway speed or crank pulley breaks off with part of crank.
PS it was cool to read an article about Toyota quality system followed by article about Tacoma recall
))
