car jerks in D on an 05 Automatic

Hi there
My 2005 Fit jerks and 'misses' when in D. A few weeks ago it did it, then the engine stopped, and the engine fault light came on.
I took it to a service station, who scanned the fault, and it was something about a sensor fault, which they replaced, but it has done it again.
From what I've read, it could be an ignition coil: does this seem likely, as I'm at my wits end !
It doesn't get this problem when in S, only in D - if I continually drive my Fit in S, I'm guessing it will chew through the petrol a bit more, but that's ok, I would dearly love to know what the issue in D is - any help or info would be truly appreciated. The car has done 120,000 km
Kind regards.

In S mode your RPM's are a bit higher.

Valve adjust
Coil Packs
Plugs

If any of these have > 80000 miles,,, they are Maintenance items..
