Could a throwout or pilot bearing cause thumping?

So my car make a thumping noise while accelerating sounds like a loose wheel just to give an example. I replaced the axles ball joints and motor mounts and it's still there. I need a new clutch as I can hear the throw out bearing grinding could that possibly make a thumping noise if it gets to bad. I bought the car a month ago knowing it needed a clutch but not sure how long it has been that way what are your thought

The longer you put off a clutch the more it will cost.. Till the car stops moving and you need a tow.. LOL

If the thumping occurs when your activating the clutch,, you've probably lost a chunk of clutch material with means a ton of nasty vibration is beating on the output end of your crank shaft.

Grinding throwout bearing is throwing small metal shrapnel inside your bell housing. If it works through the seals not eh tranny or engine you will be very very sad eventually.

I feel your pain I have a 2005 BMW that needs a clutch and its going to cost me more than the FIT to do it..

We'll I have a new clutch and will replace it this weekend I'm just hoping that there is no damage to the tranny itself

Check the input shaft for play, very common to need a new input shaft bearing on the japanese transmissions if they are used hard..

it only happens on second? i was chasing a vibration myself for a long time. it was intermittent. it would happen going over 40 and up. if i maintain speed its tolerable. if i try to coast down, it gets worse like the wheel wants to fly off. turns out there was a clicking on the inner joint where the drivers side axle goes into the differential. the vibration there became more pronounced on the passenger side. replaced the drivers side axle and fixed the problem.

if that didnt fix the problem in my case, it would be the inner bearing for the inner driveshaft or the inner drive shaft itself.

raise up the car. grab all your suspension and see if theres anything that's loose or gives too much play. i went to pep boys and they have almost passed off my car, but as soon as i spun the front wheels we heard a clicking at the inner joint.

It does it in every gear but first and more so under full throttle I had a shop look at it and they said the wheel bearing and tierods were all good I've replaced the passengers side axle maybe I should try the drivers side. It just sucks throwing money at things that don't fix the problem ya know

It doesn't make the noise unless I give more a lot of throttle and it doesn't do it under deceleration or braking it drives me nuts

Turns out it was a bad axle from the factory it was the inner joint like you said. But now I changed the clutch no more thumping but I got a bad bearing in my tranny. Always something on this damn car
