Hey everyone. New forum user here. I'm curious on what people's thoughts were on the GD 08 Honda Fit sport model. I'm debating on purchasing a used one but have been on the fence about it. It is at 107k miles which is the main source of my hesitation, but it is being sold at 6500. Completely stock but has had regular maintenance.
Has everyone seen good reliability at high mileage with their fits as long as routine care and maintenance is done? I'd appreciate any feedback and knowledge that anyone can provide. Thanks!!

107k on a Fit is really not much.
If I were to buy a car at that price, I'd replace coil packs, spark plugs, fluids & brake pads/shoes & just get everything looked over. Fits are really simple, reliable cars; I'd recommend them to anyone.

I got my 2007 Sport two years ago for $6500 with 94,000 miles on it. The car had NOTHING done except regular oil changes. As such, I had to change out all the fluids, do the plugs, ignition coils, tires and valve adjustment. So for about $8000, I had a perfectly running car that should last another 200,000 miles. At some point I'll have to pay attention to the rubber hoses.
If you don't mind the first generation look, go for it. I'm guessing there are ample first and second generation Fits available at that price point by now that are sold by individual owners. Good luck.

I bought my 2008 Fit Sport used last August. It has been a fantastic car. When I bought mine I changed the oil, air filter, coolant, automatic transmission fluid, and front brake pads. The car runs great and gets 32 mpg in mixed suburban driving.
I put 100k mi. on an '08 Base Model with MT. All stock. Everything worked well. And I drove the sh*t out of it. But it did have that annoying "piston slap" knocking noise.

You should negotiate the cost of doing any maintenance that cannot be documented.

I am test driving the car on Wednesday, so we will see how it goes. I will definitely discuss with him how he currently maintains his Fit and see where we can go from there!

The "older" Fits are easier to work on, have less damning "smart" features, a less busy instrument panel, and mine is STRONG at 167K. Many owners seem to post problems that I and the owners above have never experienced. Let us know what you decide.

Woops! Sorry for the delayed response everyone! Been super busy dealing with everything and work.
We ended up going through with the purchase and it has not disappointed us yet. Drives super smooth. Clutch is really forgiving for my girlfriend to drive (since the car was for her.)
Had to replace tires and do the OEM passenger airbag swap because of the recall, but so far she is running beautifully! Thanks for the support everyone!

Plugs should have been replaced at 100K, and at least one valve lash adjustment. You should be thinking of doing these soon if they haven't been done already. Don't cheap out on the plugs - use only the OEM Denso or NGK iridiums. Roughly $30 a set at rockauto.com.
In addition, the coilpacks typically don't last much longer than 100K, and when they go, not always the easiest thing to diagnose. Only replace with the OEM Hitachi coilpacks with part # ending in 0053 - other coilpacks have been known to burn out before 20K. Roughly $200 a set at rockauto.com.
The good thing about the GD3 is that the plugs and coilpacks are relatively easy to get to. On the GE8, have to remove the wiper motor to access the back of the engine first. The valve lash involves more teardown, but from the front of the engine, not the back.
