"Mode Control Dial" broke

Hi,

Anyone ever repair the module that the "Mode Control Dial" for the climate control? It's the knob that controls which vents the air or heat comes out of. Here are some specifics: It still activates the A/C when put in defrost BUT the cold air only comes out of the front vents, not the windshield vents. I can still change the temperature from hot to cold but the air ONLY comes out of the front vents. I'm just assuming that there are flaps in the HVAC that direct air from one set of vents to another. So, those flaps aren't moving.

Any ideas?

Dave

Make sure there no foreign objects is in the ducts first and nothing is restricting movement of the mode lever under dash.
Pull out glove box (like for cabin filter change) and inspect

There is a push/pull cable between the control dial and the heater box in the dash. (one of three cables total)
You'll have to investigate if that cable still moves or not, and see where in that the movement was lost or broken.

Awesome! I was going to replace the cabin filter tomorrow anyway. Upon first inspection, I didn't see any moving parts when I moved the dial. But I'll have more time to check it out.

Thanks, I really appreciate the response!

I have the exact same problem

The cable that connects from my vent control knob to white disk isn’t moving when I turn the dial. Is this an easy fix? What do I call it when requesting this cable at the parts store? Thanks for you help!
