Where is sensor for dash lights?

07 base Fit, dash lights come on automatically at dusk. Where is the sensor for that? I don't like having the dash lights come on without headlights and taillights coming on also. It's too easy for my wife to drive around with no lights, thinking they're on just because she has dash lights. I'd like to cover up that sensor but not sure where it is.

Yea, that's a problem for a lot of people and apparently a hard habit to break.

There isn't any sensor.
Dash lights up when you turn the key on.

You can adjust dash light brightness, see page 73 in your owners manual

Isn't there supposed to be a HEADLIGHT icon that lights when the headlamps are turned on?
