Recurring problems with CEL and Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor #2
Hi, I'm wondering if anyone else has run into this issue. I've got a Check Engine Light with 3 codes - P2183, P2185, and P0111.
P2183 - Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor 2 - Circuit Range/Performance
P2185 - Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor 2 - Circuit High
P0111 - Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1 - Circuit Range/Performance
I can also sometimes smell fuel, especially when I back up (basically driving into my own fumes), which suggests a rich fuel mixture and corresponds with a bad ECT sensor (either 1 or 2).
I just looked at the ECT 2 sensor - both the pins and the harness were gleaming clean. So corrosion is unlikely to be the problem. Coolant level is normal (between the min and max lines on the reservoir). Weather recently has been hot and dry (80-90F), and I haven't done any crazy driving, just my regular mix of highways and country roads.
The kicker is that this sensor has been replaced twice in the last 4 years (both times by the previous owner). Once in 2014, where only the sensor was replaced, and again in 2015, where both the sensor and the harness were replaced.
Anyone else run into this? What else could I look at, besides replacing the sensor yet again?

You replaced wrong sensor
Number 2 ECT sensor is the radiator (lower tank ) and controls operation of the engine fans. High voltage indicates a dirty connector or defective sensor
For P0111 check the wire insulation and connector

Ezone, any chance you have a screenshot of that TSB? I'm not finding anything about it on Google. I gave Honda a call and had them look up my VIN, and they didn't find any "Product Updates" (I think that means TSB?) for my particular Fit.
Questolicious, did you solve it by going to the Dealer for the software update?

That one I mentioned is only for 2007.
Your P2185 code is defined as ect2 high voltage, so it may have a bad connection or open circuit somewhere. I did not see any tsb for it

Narianu, I went to two mechanics to get a more thorough diagnosis. Both mechanics noted that aftermarket sensors have a high failure rate and recommended to replace the sensor again, making sure to use the Honda genuine part. I replaced the part as instructed, and also replaced the engine coolant in the process. Check Engine Light went away immediately. Exhaust fume issue is still there and appears to be separate.

I have the exact same issue. Code P2185 and when I checked the lower radiator coolant sensor this morning I saw the chewed wires. This was completely cut and the bundle next to it was tasted with a bite. Must not have been as tasty. I'll take to my local mechanic this week and hopefully he can repair the wires. The connector and sensor look clean. This on a 2012 Fit with around 49,000 miles.
Thank you for posting your picture as it told me what to check before I just blindly ordered the sensor...

CEL on p0118 and p2185
I have a 2008 Honda fit that had a p0420 and p2185 code. I replaced Ect2( in radiator) fixed the 02 sensors and CEL and both codes went away. I was trying to get the monitors ready, which I did EXCEPT for the evap monitor. Drove the car about 2 days and CEL came back on and now I have p0118 and p2185, p0420 still gone. I replaced Ect1( on engine block) and codes are still there. Any hints, help or advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm driving around with expired tags.
