Radio knob removal with special tool
For those brave souls who will attempt to swap the LCD screen I am adding volume knob removing procedure. It should work in most cases(unless the plastic of the knob had hardened and become brittle)
Top: tab releasing keys Bottom L to R: knob and its cover. Arrows indicate slots where keys are inserted
1) Make three release keys; I used bi-metal hack saw blades; each working part of the key is about 5 mm wide and 25 mm long. The end is rounded and sharpened
2) Using flat tool pop out the "silver" cover of the knob
3) Insert all three keys into the slots (120 degrees apart)
The key is approaching a locking tab(knob removed for clarity)
The key is pushing the tab away releasing the knob
Make sure that all keys are fully inserted
4) Put on the safety classes and pry the knob out using appropriate trim tool (be prepare to locate keys as they may fly out from the knob in some cases, this is why it is highly advisable to do this with the radio unit off the car)
