I think it starts at 3400 rpm and fully engaged at 3600. I know the newer ivtec as a total of 50 degrees of cam phase(advance up to 50 degrees). For more info check this out Honda L-Series SOHC i-VTEC Engines for the new GD Honda Fit/Jazz is the new ivtec and The Truly Amazing Honda Fit/Jazz 2007-2008

The newer L15A engages at 5400rpms, I know for sure as I have connected a LED up to the VTEC pin on the ECU. It is nothing like the older L15A which was an economy type of VTEC which allowed the motor to use all 16 valves upon activation of VTEC.

Yea thats what i thought. I feel a slight extra pull at 3500, but at 5500ish, with an intake, you REALLY hear it kick in.

sooo could Hondata/COBB/ and any other respected ECU tweakers, do things like "re-flashs" to get HP gains out of our Fits? sorry sounding uninformed but i really am. ive read about ECU reflashes or chips for like newer RSX/Civic Si's gaining a good amount of HP with just that. I/H/E compliment the flash even more resulting in higher HP gains. this possible for our Fits? (well i guess anythings possible but)

Maybe. Higher Redline, Timing Advance (for running on premium), Earlier Vtec engagement, and tweaked AFRs are all possible... someday...

It's more than possible, just no interest from the companies to put it out there. The return on investment is pretty small if at all positive. I'm sure Hondata could pump out a FlashPro for the Fit in a very short time, but most likely won't. I miss messing around with the ECU, had K-Pro in the 5R and later in the S2000 with the dual ECU setup.

I've asked on Hondata's forum about a FlashPro for the GE and a reply was never given. Maybe if people with GE's join their forum and show a real interest, they may come around. Just don't hold your breath, because you will probably pass out and die first.

It is possible, that is what J's does here in Japan to the GE's ECU and have done to some ECUs in Thailand as well.

Hondata does a reflash for the KWSC High Boost Kit... I think it is wonderful.

Not all Honda ecm's is capable of being reflash. Manual trans can be, because the automatics have another trans computer and Honda doesn't want these to be messed with. In early 2000 they had problems with automatic trans and I believe they made it impossible for them to work right when reflashed, because of warranty claims. Also there computer will adjust up to 10-15 percent so adding a cold air, exhaust is the limit the ecu can adjust with out being reflashed.

Exhaust and intake changes are the only engine mods possible without altering ECU settings so reducing drive train weight and gearing changes are going to be the best options for performance increase.... Silver Bullet's post answers the question as to why KraftWerks doesn't make a high boost kit for automatic cars...

Well if they would release the Fit with a CVT instead of the outdated AT in North America, it too can be reflashed. J's reflashes the CVT for the Fit, CR-Z (which might work for those stateside picking up a CR-Z) and other models.
