I have an idea that might give more strength to your guys' cause...

Start a kickstarter campaign! Or convince them to set up the project themselves. This will prove one way or another whether there will ever be a market for this or not. Obviously, you would have to coordinate with Hondata as to what the goal would have to be and they would have to agree to commit if the goal is met. If the goal isn't met, no big deal, since it's all or nothing. A sucessful campaign means you get a FlashPro. Unsuccessful, means you pay absolutely nothing and you can use that money for therapy sessions trying to cope with the fact FlashPro will really never happen...

The key advantage for Hondata is that they see real people backing it up with real money and they will have it upfront when the campaign ends. No more wondering whether your forum "lists" are legit or not. And in the end they will know, either way, whether they just need to hang up on people as soon as they hear "GE8" or not... Hondata really cannot lose.

No tiered rewards or any of that crap. Full $695 commitment or get the F out. Also, people can donate out of the kindness of their hearts too. Hell, I'll throw in a little bit...

I'd definitely set it up with a long duration though, to give people enough time to find out about it. I'm sure there's people who have already given up on a tuning option and only pop in every now and then to see if a freaking miracle has just happened...

Make it happen my L-series brethren. What's good for you guys, is good for us at the CR-Z forum too. Many performance options would not exist for both of us, if it weren't for either of our cars...

Good luck guys!

Expect the reply to be 10-20 people need to put up a deposit. Even after that, I would not have any expectations on a timeline for it to be completed. They'd have their $$$ and could take their time afterwards. It's worth a try though.

As much as I want a Hondata, I would not want them taking their time with my $700. They better come up with a timeline, such as 4 months or less, from time money is taken.

As much as I want a Hondata unit, I fully expect them to show some sort of commitment IF they see that we are commited. Its a handshake, not a "heres some money, maybe help us?"

Keep us updated.

If this does kick off... how does this kickstarter thing work? Do they take the money right away or wait until the deadline/criteria are met?

I got no problem paying for this up front right now, but I want to be sure if it doesn't go thru I get the money back.

And what about us overseas folks? I'd be willing to send the cash but how're they gonna send it?

Maybe i should worry about that IF they decide to actually make it.

gd3

Hondata doesn't like to leak info on pre-production products since it could hurt sales. It makes sense they will not drop any crumbs even if the money is right...considering how long us GD3 guys waited (5years) with no hint, I would hold my breath.
