HPS Silicone Hoses® 27-102WB - Wrinkle Black Short Ram Air Intake and/or DIY question

Your assistance is appreciated.

Anybody have the above intake? How is it?

Can anyone leave URLs to info. on this intake? Did search on here and it came back with 0.

If the above intake is not very good, considering a DIY intake. Looks like an obstacle is finding an intake tube that is the right size that does not throw a Check Engine Light. Anyone have info. on an intake tube that works? The K&N Typhoon intake has a large obstruction in the intake tube's air path so not liking that one (see photo below).

Want to get Venturi effect so 6" input from filter down to 2.5" withVelocity Stack at filter.

Any info. you can provide is appreciated.

Best,
Yo

Hey Yo,

I may have already answered this in your PM, but I don't believe there is an aftermarket MAF tube that is the correct inside diameter for our Fits. The only option for a DIY seems to be cutting out the MAF tube out of a stock air box lid, which is what I did. If the inside diameter of the tube is off even a little bit, like it will be with any of the aftermarket ones that are currently available, it will throw a check engine light.

I have an HPS short ram. Its a good kit. It has a built-in velocity stack in the tubing, so there's no need to add one. Its basically the same layout as the K&N kit, but without the heat shield.

I wrote about it in my build thread (see link in my sig), but overall, I like it. It makes a nice noise at about half throttle, and the K&N filter included is of course top notch.

I'm very much against the DIY intake, largely because if you sell the car later, you'll have to explain to the potential buyers that you hacked apart the stock airbox and replaced the vacuum line with a breather filter that doesn't take in metered air. Its much easier to just stuff the stock air box back in its place and sell your intake kit separately, and it'll make selling your car much easier.

Ive had an hps short ram intake and a tanabe axle back muffler on my car for a month now. The only initial thing i was worried about was if, because the intake had no heat shield, water would get to the filter. Being where it sits...i doubt it. I still have to finish my exhaust and get it tuned when ktuner finally puts the 09-10 fit on the compatability for the tuner, but generally im overall pleased. I definitely feel a difference on the low end. I also removed a certain tube that came with the intake and put two breathers on instead

I agree about the hps. I picked mine up today and it took longer to get my radio code than to install it. Sound doesn't kick in unless you punch it so i wont wake the neighbors unless I want. Many fitfreakers claim little or no gains from intake with no ktuner but I think I feel a bit.

My butt dyno sure felt the difference with the HPS intake. Drove out of the neighborhood and broke the front tire loose getting on it a little while turning. That never happened with stock setup. So my butt dyno felt difference inside of 1 mile of travel with it.

With the K&N intake, my butt dyno felt nothing. Stop watch told me it was 1 sec faster 5-60 MPH though. (HPS took 1.4 secs off).

HPS Short Ram is the bomb!

Want to find a filter that has 6" inside diameter so a Velocity Stack can be put on bringing it down to 2" or so to fit the HPS intake. Thinking it will make the Vtec Kick stronger. Anybody got a filter size that fits?

If you look in the inside of the pipe, HPS included a velocity stack in the design. That's part of the reason its a better piece than the K&N.

You will all laugh at me for this (kinda hope you do, it's funny) but I'm new to modding. I have heard of e dyno & mustang dyno so I thought a butt dyno was a real thing. It literally just clicked what you are talking about.

Question for people that own this. Is there a lot of room to put a different or bigger filter in place? I prefer to run a dryflow but they are usually quite a bit bigger.

No, there is not much room in there.

Looking to put a bigger filter on with 6" outlet and velocity stack to bring it down to 2" or so. Goal is a stronger Vtec kick.

bigger vtec can either mean there is less power down low feeling the big surge at vtec x-over or lowend stays stock and upper power gain was over stock. Id def have the latter. Would i get this? my thing is hp/0.00. From seeing this units hp/0.00, the answer is yes.

Is the filter you are looking for similar to this filter here -->

A huge air filter that goes down to 2" at the end of it? This is an S&B air filter that I purchase locally at a warehouse called Verocious Motorsports. Also, I purchased a new maf sensor box for my Fit and cut it up until I just had the maf sensor housing. I can mount any piping or air filter to it that I want to make any kind of intake I want. You can do the same. The stock maf sensor housing box was cheap new.

Verocious Motorsports have a velocity stack air filter here if you are interested --> http://www.verociousmotorsports.com/...elocity-Stacks
