'13 fit sport running lean after intake

After installing a short ram intake on my girls 2013 fit sport it is throwing a CEL showing it running lean it is also shuddering a little and bogging down after shifting into second gear. Is there any way to enrich the air fuel mixture without serious mods? Seems like anything other than the factory airbox might be out of the question with this car without them.

Double check your installation. Something is wrong. I am guessing MAF sensor related.

Take everything apart and put it back together again. Pay close attention to any leaks behind the sensor or around the sensor itself that would allow unmetered air into the motor.

You don't need any additional modifications to run an intake, so something is wonky.

Well redid everything and the car is bogging down from the start and dying. I don't know what is wrong.

Would be nice if someone in the Texas area would help TxMedic out. I'm no mechanic myself but I'd help anyone in the Delaware Valley region within reasonable distance.

Could you take a picture of your setup and post?

Hopefully you didn't break the MAF sensor. Maybe try getting some MAF cleaner in case it got dirty or oily. Also check wiring connections, etc to make sure everything is connected securely and nothing is loose or dirty.

This also sounds like a MAF problem so I would focus your attention there.

Well I put the stock airbox back in and it works fine. It is a diy ssr.I ordered mount for the maf I had built one myself and I think that is the problem if not then I habe no clue. I have built plenty of intakes on other cars and this one is by far the most sensitive maf I have ever worked with.

for a DIY intake, ur supposed to cut up the stock plug and use the tube where the MAF sensor plugs into. then u plug all ur piping to that.

Is there a step by step on how to do this. I would really like to keep my stock airbox in one piece just in case.
