Fit Sport Spoiler on Fit Base

So I had a shop install the sport spoiler on the on my base tailgate. The side of the spoiler sides do not sit flush against the tailgate. There's basically a gap.

1. Is this normal in regards to the sport tailgate and sport spoiler?

2. Has anyone tried to swap the internals of the base hatch into a sport hatch? (I'm aware the lock has a different part number and lacks a key whole.)

My GE 09 Sport has no keyhole anyway... they came out in Sport 10, so you shouldn't have any problem there.

They're install the side skirts so I don't have access to the car. As soon as they finish I'll post pictures.

Alright thanks. If drilling this spoiler can't look factory then I might have to go they route.

You mean under the spoiler between the roof on the sides? If so 3m padded tape strips are supposed to be installed there. But I don't think it matters at all, my tape pieces fell off within 6 months... Doesn't bother me especially since I'm changing out my CBP USDM Sport spoiler any day now. (Yes it will be for sale. )

I don't think it's supposed to sit flush. Waiting to hear back from OP or see pics of his. Sounds like he's getting his Base fit turned into a Sport.

Was thinking about adding a factory spoiler to my '10 base. How DIY is this? Drilling, I suppose... Or easier to find a complete Sport tailgate?
