Bazooka BTA6100 - should i get this??

Recently, i've been researching subwoofers to see which one would sound the best (in terms of cost and clear sound) and i reached a semi-conclusion that this Bazooka BTA6100 would be the best for my GE8.

However, I've never heard this sub in person so i do not know how much of a difference it would make because i have factory speakers and deck. I have the GE8 Sport model so that should give me about 160 watts. Does anybody have opinions or advice, or better yet, pictures or testimonies about their own bazookas??

Well, first off there are a few questions that need to be answered. What kind of music do you listen to? What kind of bass do you like? How competent are you at installing car audio? Are you planning any other sound upgrades in the future? Are you concerned about space? How much are you looking at spending?

Depending on how you answer these, this may or may not be the right setup for you. I used to install car audio full-time and I have had a lot of experience with the Bazooka tubes and other self-amplified sub systems. They can definitely fill a void that is apparent in the factory setup, but are not for everyone.

Probably so, I didn't notice the date of the post until after I replied.

I realize this thread is brought back from the dead but I've been thinking of getting a bazzoka tube instead of the traditional set up and would like some input.

Well, I would pose to you the same questions I posted here without realizing this thread was dead.

i would recommend something more like these. Bazooka's are a bit boomy, often referred to by audiophiles as a burp cannon, basically their tuned very high. Not that most powered subs arent but some sound better.

take not that these can be found cheaper elsewhere online, Crutchfield is overpriced.
JL Audio PWM110-WJX PowerWedge MAX 10" powered subwoofer at Crutchfield.com

MTX RT8PT Road Thunder 120-watt powered 8" subwoofer at Crutchfield.com

MTX X ThunderLink XTL210P 200-watt 10" powered subwoofer at Crutchfield.com

The JL audio one will sound pretty good, but wont be as loud as the last one i linked.
If you want looks and loud without much regard to quality, this one may suit your need, dont let the wattage fool you, this box is +6db efficient
Sound Ordnance™ B-8P 80-watt powered bandpass subwoofer at Crutchfield.com

ultimately at some point you may want to go traditional setup, but those are worth a look if thats all your wanting for now.

I listen to house, rap and r&b. I realize that with the tube set up its not going to be the greatest sound quality but being my dd Im not wanting to spend a ton of money into the system. I'm just looking for something that doesn't take up a ton of space and is economically friendly.

Bazooka's cost about as much as the JL powerwedge and more than the MTX Road thunder. But whatever floats your boat.

How much are you looking at spending? You're going to spend 200 give or take on a powered sub setup. You can do a traditional setup that won't occupy a ton of space for around 300 give or take that will sound remarkably better. My current setup is 1 - 12" with a custom enclosure (still not finished) and it still leaves a good amount of space. I will try and get some pics this weekend. I could have made it smaller if I wanted, and if I would have gone with a smaller sub, it could have been even smaller. My setup is also designed to be turned sideways down the vehicle when the rear seats are lowered to created more room and it can be removed easily if need be.
