Door speakers getting wet?
Door speakers getting wet?
I'm in the middle of installing new speakers in my '09 and I have the passenger door panel completely removed as well as the factory speaker. I was driving around today in the rain and I noticed water was dripping down into the door from the window and getting on the wiring harness. It made me wonder, what keeps water from dripping all over the back of the speaker? I guess I was expecting some kind of drip rail or something that would route water to a drain instead of just letting it drop down from the glass along the whole bottom edge of the window. Then again, maybe I'm just paranoid. Just wanted to get some input while I'm doing this install in case I need to do something special to protect the speakers...
Thanks!
Thanks!
there is a plastic cover dividing the inner part and the outer part of the door. this plastic cover (white plastic in my case) should not be retired and should be properly restored in place when you make some work in the door. if not, you car will pay the consequences.
there is no problem if the external part of the door gets wet, in fact there are some tiny holes in the bottom of the door to get rid of the water. but when you find leaks inside the car. you should check for leaking in the plastic cover. i learned the hard way by riping off all this plastic and my fit turn into a jacuzzi after a huge rain
