Civic Steering Wheel in a GE8?

One of the things I miss most about my S2000 was the glorious steering wheel. Unfortunately, the wheel in the base Fit just doesn't have the same level of feel. So I've been looking at upgrade options and figured the 8th gen Civic would be the most likely candidate for a direct swap.

I was able to find a bunch of pics of the civic and fit steering wheel/airbag set-up, and it looks like the wheel should work but the airbags are different. Does anyone have any experience with this? Searching hasn't turned up any definitive answers.

It is a direct swap except you need radio control.

A friend of mine swapped it. It is a direct swap. I cannot tell that the airbag really work since his airbag has not deployed yet. However, plug is the same.

On a side not your car insurance will be invalid unless you tell them what you have done. Even then most of them will not go for it. I would check around first since it's pretty much illegal to tamper with an airbag in all of North America. Just speaking from experience!

Swapping it to another nearly-identical OEM wheel is not tampering anything especially when it is all OEM Honda and is plug-and-play.

Is the Civic wheel smaller then the Fit? also are you talking about the base model or the SI?

P.S.

I have a Civic wheel being wrapped in Alcantara. Same size, but has thumb rests. Same internals too.

Doing a pair of Civic seats soon too, also which plug right in to the airbag plugs.

Thanks Blue, I thought the civic wheel was a little smaller must be the SI, but I may still look into this. Liking the thumb rest

I didn't hold them up side-by-side, but it definitely feels the same size.

Sure. It'll be mid-January though.
