Hello FF,Has anyone replaced the stock Fit plastic/rubber steering wheel with a more sporty steering wheel, like the Civic Si steering wheel? I've searched the forum and saw the Fit EX-L wheel swap...well done! I was just thinking that as long as I was going to all the trouble to swap, I might as well get the sportiest one that could be a direct snap-in replacement. Also, if anyone knows of a more aggressively styled wheel that will accept the fit airbag please let me know. Acura? Thanks,

And I thought I was the only wacky fitster! I just test drove and really like it. Hoping for a good deal when I go back to negotiate - I will try to convince them that nobody else will ever want their "lemon" yellow one-year old manual transmission car in DC! Of course it is a wonderful car, just trying to get a deal. I would like to negotiate a steering wheel swap into the purchase. Plastic wheel might be a showstopper for me. Don't want any aftermarket sewing kit. The regular wheel is actually driving me over to a base Mini - completely different in many ways, but I like them both. As for the steering wheels, they appear to have the same buttons, airbag, basic size, etc. Would love to have confeirmation that they actually fit. Also wondering if a dealer would actually do it for me and if it would affect the warranty. Really not that concerned with the warranty for the steering wheel/controls/airbag, just not to void the rest of the warranty. Thanks!

 

I thought about it about a month ago and was curious if the airbags would interchange. Can't confirm or deny due to liability reasons... and lack of access to a GK5.

 

A nice leather wheel wrap made a huge difference for me without any tricky installation and compatibility issues to be concerned with... especially getting that airbag wiring hooked up right. If you fail, you may not get a second chance to fix it.
