GE8 Engine Replacement/Rebuild

Hello Fellow GE8 Fit owners:

Hope you are enjoying your Fit as much as me. Approaching 130k miles on my 2010 Honda Fit Sport Manual, USA Spec. Wondering if anyone has replaced or rebuilt the motor? Any tips? If the engine rebuild/replacement comes to pass, would like to put on any bolt on parts that increase HP at that time. Not interested in turbo or supercharger or NOS. Figure on more HP through better engine breathing. I am on a budget so costs matter.

Any tips you have are appreciated.

Thanks,
Yo

Properly cared for this motor will last beyond 500k. You're in no need to do anything to the motor for quite some time. As far as power, nothing really works except the sprintex supercharger and it's good for maybe 20 horsepower.

Ppl say ktuner can work magic when combined with colder plugs, intake, exhaust, premium gas...

.. But u are looking at incremental gains from a lot of work. I've been surprised not to see anyone attempt a throttle body swap for better breathing, but, with that being the proposed bottleneck, other modifications are going to have limited impact. A high flow filter or lighter wheels are probably the easiest cheap mods for speed initially, and your gains/dollar may drop off quickly from there.

i'm at 325k and had an opportunity to buy a wrecked '11 sport for 500$...never had a honda last beyond 200k mostly due to my driving habits and racing previous motors. i have the feeling though that engine is going to be sitting in my garage for a few years before i will ever need it.
Even more so i could have picked up an engine from local wreckers for 2-350$.

to your question about bolt on for the l15....dont even bother. Gains are not that great and k swaps although more expensive are the only gains worth spending on. I'm sure the sprinter supercharger crowd will say differently but even c/ a supercharger your not making impressive gains. Its like building a d15/d16 in a civic/crx. you do it to start then relies a b20/18 for the cost was much better way to spend money.

Most the mods actually will hurt in the end. Even some exhaust actually cause this engine to do worse b/c it needs the back pressure and you'll lose performance.
Now that said i wouldnt look down on a lighten flywheel for more response, but thats about it.

Sprintex is preset for 93 octane. no go in california..
I'd recommend a focus on handling, which is a beautiful thing with this car. I showed up pretty bummed too upon learning there aint much modding to do. honda already eeked a lot out of this 1.5L.
Youd likely see improvements of significant value with good plugs and a valve adjustment. I'd also love to see a TB swap, especially if a position sensor from a sportier car came with it.

Since you're title is about a swap, yeah theres write-ups for that, and i think one is stickied up top. Personally, I'd prolly take those funds and buy a used GSXR from some dude on base whose PCSing.

I imagine its disappointing news. Was for me. But since I tightened everything up mechanically, I havent wanted to mess with this car. with wide wheels she handles so well.

I've also been informed that exhaust modification to reduce resistance does infact trade low end for top, but I havent studied extensively or eeever run a dyno (just the butt dyno)
some guys got fab work done and really went all out, but it was some time ago. youll have to search it up.
