Where are safe places to position jack stands?

I'm weary about placing the jack stands because there aren't a lot of places to choose from. Picked up my floor jack from my buddy but he stored it with the valve open, so now it has no pressure. Using the scissor jack but can't figure out where to place the stand so that I can jack up the entire front of the vehicle.

Scissor jack? As in the one that came with the car? If so, then... there's NO location for it to lift the entire front end. That jack is designed for only one corner at a time. I'm not even sure there are any aftermarket scissor jacks that can be used. A short google search turns up leveling jacks for RVs, but I'm pretty sure that requires the RV itself to still have all wheels on the ground, not lifting off the ground for repairs and such.

Or there are even more expensive hoist type scissor jacks... but....

Just get your jack sorted or buy a good new one and bill your former friend.

Like Goobers said the OEM scissor jack is not made to pick up the front of the car, only a corner to change a tire. You really need a floor jack to do that. I used a small Craftsman floor jack for a while. The one I had could not pick the whole front of the car very high so I had to do a coner at time. I now have a cheap Harbor Freight floor jack and it works great. I always use ramps unless I have to remove wheels.

I can't recal a spot on the Fit where you could lift a corner up with the scissor jack and still fit a jack stand somewhere.

If the scissor jack goes high enough you might be able to pick up a rear corner high enough to fit a jack stand under a front corner. I do this with my GTI but I use a floor jack.

Sorry, y'all. We weren't using the Honda one. We used my friend's that was higher-rated. We actually ended up squeezing it under and using the jack point in the center of the front-end. It's so far back there, though, that I don't even know that my floor jack would have been able to get under there.

The problem with getting ramps is that they're all plastic now days, unless you feel like spending a ton of money. I planned on getting wood to do it with, but I just haven't had time lately. Living in an apartment and having to travel to friends' houses isn't ideal for time hah.

Apartment does make it harder. I did a DIY ramp that works really well it's just heavy af!!! The plastic ones are more then plenty for a Fit though.

My DIY wood ramps:

Nice. Yep, was planning something just like that. Maybe with some rubber on the rear bottom edge to give it some grip.

That's a great idea!! I want to drill some holes in them so I can hang them too. Have considered adding some sort of wheel/caster also.

I do remember the front tow hook being back rather far on the Fit. Almost need a long reach jack to get back there.

If you could find casters that have some sort of quick-release mechanism that'd be awesome. I'm imagining a twist-lock.
edit: Boom! and Boom! Not what I was thinking, but more secure. Twist-lock would work better. With these ones, though, you'd have to slide them out. Easy enough to cut out a recess in the wood to allow it to sit flat once the casters are off.

It was pretty ridiculous! Thankfully, we were able to get the scissor jack in there. I'm very happy for that haha. A lot went wrong today, but we got it all done.

You da man!! Those would work great. Stick them on the end and when I need to move them kick them down and roll ramps where they need to do then pop them up. Looks like there is enough wheel to put a handle on the opposite end of the ramp so I can pull it while standing.

Now, if I actually do this as well... haha
