Disabling ABS
Disabling ABS
I recently bought an 09 sport to use as a rallycross car. The car will be run in FWD Stock, which basically means throwing on some snow tires, pulling the front sway bar, slapping on a skidplate and some mudflaps, disabling abs and having fun.
What's the easiest way to disable abs in this car without effecting any other systems (steering mainly)? Is it the 30A abs monitoring fuse?
I tried searching, but any time anybody's asked it seems like they're only scolded for trying to disable abs. When you're racing on loose terrain, the best way to get a fwd car to rotate is to left foot brake to get the car to keep rotating under throttle (to aid in turn in and avoid mid corner understeer). ABS doesn't play well with this kind of driving.
Thanks for any tips.
Bonus question, does anyone know the stock brake bias the car defaults too without electronic interference?

In my previous cars, I would also have pulled the ABS fuse for the same reasons that you mentioned. A Scandinavian flick can be performed much easier without ABS (and also the weight transfer procedure with left foot braking that you mentioned) and none of that pulling the e-brake bullshit. I practiced on snowy parking lots and such to transfer those handling skills for track days.
I won't be much help to you otherwise as I'm not familiar with the 2nd gen system. I would imagine by default that the brake bias would be the standard front bias without the ABS fuse as I suspect the ABS also controls the electronic load distribution. I would also imagine that the traction control might be disabled by pulling the ABS fuse as well.
I love the 3rd gen's system as the ABS kicks in late and I can do Scandinavian flicks to rotate the rear without the e-brake BS.
I'd like to know whatever you discover. Good luck.

I know there's a pedal dance you can to with the GK5 that disables the stability control and traction control. It's the same as shown in this video for the Civic. Not sure if there is something similar for your car that might also disable the anti lock brakes?
