Seat rail is stuck

Hi there, first time poster here.
My 2012 fit driver's seat base got locked in all-the-way-back position about a week ago during a heat wave. We have been driving around as if it's a low-rider. Finally we took the seat off yesterday and it's apparent that the interior rail won't unlock. It doesn't seem to be jammed with anything, the flashlight shines through without impediment. But when you squeeze the release bar there is less movement inside the interior rail compared with the functional exterior rail.
My questions are:
  1. is it even possible to detach the rail from the seat? I haven't found anything online about this.
  2. Do we have to buy a whole new seat, or can we just replace the one broken rail?
Any advice would be most welcome. Thanks for your time!

I had a similar issue a few years back with my rail adjustment being stuck. It was stuck where I wanted it so I didn't deal with it for a while but when I finally got to it I pulled up on the interior side of the bar and used mass to rock the rail back into place. I wish I had a better description of what I'm talking about but I haven't had the seat off to tell you exactly what I did. I do have the service manual which I'll PM to you, look on page 20-109 to look at the front seats. The service manual only shows the adjustment rail being replaceable, shows the whole seat bottom as an entire unit. You might look into the interior mod forums on here to see if someone has more pictures. I know a few people have swapped the originals for Momo's or other aftermarket seats.

And hey if you do end up replacing the seat look at driver seats for the 2006-2011 civic SI. It's a direct bolt-in, and they're pretty cheap to find second hand on ebay. Don't buy the passenger side seat for parity's sake: the sensor for the passenger seat does not line up correctly, will throw an airbag code.

06-11 Civic SI seats are direct bolt-on? No need for swapping rail or airbag sensor?

I'm quite surprised....

The entire assembly, rails and all swaps where the current seat is bolted. I can't find the post but a guy here recently tried swapping the two and while the driver seat is a no fuss swap, the passenger seat is very different.

Well, not a direct swap. You have to fabricate some brackets, change bolts... Seems that the airbag and sensors are plug and play, but not the rest! Otherwise, if it was directly bolt-on, I would already have done it!
