Hi all. I don't post all that often but I do follow occasionally.
My 2011 Fit base model has 170K miles and the front struts are making noise and need to be replaced. The prices I have been quoted from mechanics are more than the car is worth so I want to do it myself. I am quite an experienced hobby mechanic but need some info.

First, does anybody have the factory shop manual pages for replacement of the complete strut assembly that they can send me? Rockauto has the complete assembly for a very reasonable price.

Second, does the shop manual procedure for strut R/R have the procedure outlined for the upper cowl removal and reinstallation?

Third, is the entire procedure in the Haynes manual? I just want to know before I buy it if it is worth it.

Check your PM's for the service manual. You could take anything apart with it, pretty detailed instructions.

 

 

personally, I hate removing the cowl. I simply use a ratcheting wrench and keep the cowl on. but ..... here it is:

 

Yeah I broke every single clip taking mine off. The whole thing is held on with two zip ties now.
