Lifting front end

Anyone lift their Fit on the lower control arms so they can place jack stands on the front? The official front jacking point is so far back I can't lift the jack handle once I get the jack pad in place. Also, is this the correct location of the frame rail lifting point? It felt like the thickest and strongest point, everything forward of the notch towards the tire feels like it will bend.

I usually lift there with a floor jack and put an axle stand where the triple layered pinch weld is.

I wouldn't do it. Jack from the lower arms, that is.

I usually go in with two jacks. Weaker/smaller/OE scissor jack on one of the front corners until its high enough to get a floor jack under the central front jack point (on the sub-frame just behind the engine mount). The corner has to be high enough to actually make use (abeit, minimal at the start) of the floor jack. Once the floor jack is has enough clearance for some earnest handle movement, you can either lower the corner jack or wait until the floor jack lifts it up past it to pull it out.

Of course, then you continue with the floor jack until it's high enough for your jack stands.

My Fit is lowered, so forget being able to move the handle, I can't even get the jack under the car, let alone to that central point until I lift the corner anyway.

One trick is to drive over a 2x4 or similar, that may give you enough clearance to reach the front center lift point.

When you say lift there, do you mean by the control arm, or the center jacking point? Also, is the triple layered pinch weld located where I have my floor jack in the pic above? Thanks.

I have a Harbor Freight low profile floor jack. What I do to access the recommended jack point behind the engine is to first turn steering wheel either left or right such that it opens the gap between the tire and fender well. After that there’s just enough clearance to use the jack handle to lift the car. Then just place a jack stand at the pinch weld location.

2Rismo2: Thanks, I'm thinking I might need to get the front wheels up on pieces of 4x4 post before I can actually jack up the front end

Goobers, fit09: Thanks for those two suggestions, I do have three floor jacks so I think I will give each of your suggestions a try.

Can any of you confirm that I have my floor jack pad in the correct spot in the above pic?

The triple weld I'm talking about is just forward of where you have the jack in the pic. That's where I put the axle stand.

Yeah, I'm too lazy to look for such a piece then attempt to move the car back and forth onto it hoping that its either aligned or stays in place.

I had two, now have three floor jacks (the 3rd is supposed to be taller for the HR-V), its quicker for me to just use the floor jacks (they have dual pistons so they rise pretty quickly).
