will 205/60/15 fit a 13 sport?

edit! gah sorry - 205/60/16 - not 15! basically want to put a taller tire on the stock sport wheel..

howdy folks.. new guy here, just picked up a 13 sport. wondering if anyone knows offhand if a 205/60/16 will fit? Yes i did search! didn't see anything conclusive. why? the car rides like garbage - really loud, harsh, etc. i'd like to soften it up and get a little more clearance. tire guy suggested a 195/60/16 but it's not appreciably taller. current tire is a Falken all season with at least 60% left, no odd wear patterns in the 185/55/16 size on oem wheels.

also it's a genuine question. i did see in search results a lot of ruffling of feathers when folks suggested (Gasp) TALLER tires. as more context, this isn't my 'sporty car', i've got a track car (licensed racer and instructor) and a truck so pretty well versed in modifying cars but hoping someone can save me some trial and error. why a fit sport? well this was the best / newest / cheapest car i found in 2 months of looking for a first car for my wife (13 with 40k for $12 out the door and it's immaculate - that's a really good deal in the grossly overpriced sf bay area). Everything else was too $ or too old. So it is as they say what it is. Just want a little quieter / cushier ride! thanks!

also gotta say i love the little thing! steering and handling overall are brilliant, and 100ish hp never felt so fun. i mean my motorcycle makes 165 hp lol!

Going 205/60R16 is a 7.1% increase in diameter. That's a lot, it'll throw your odometer and speedometer off by quite a bit.

I went 195/60R15 and the difference is night and day for comfort.

thanks - good to know re 195/60. that might be the safter bet.

speedo /odo discrepancy i'm not so worried about. easy enough to calculate on the fly, and really the less time my wife is looking at a speedometer the better. she should be judging speed based on conditions and should be able to gauge within a few mph how fast she's going by feel. also she'll probably have waze up as an HUD which has a gps speedo value.

thanks!

Bear in mind I'm talking that size on a 15 inch wheel. Go here for the calculator I used:. https://tiresize.com/calculator/

saw that you noted 15" - i think that's the way to go. was going to try to cheap out and not buy wheels, but an extra inch of rubber would be nice.

familiar w the calculator. this one's pretty slick too - https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/ also https://www.willtheyfit.com/ does a nice overlay of old vs new to eyeball potential issues.

If you're looking for wheels I just spent about $530 on a set of Konig Heliums, Yokohama avids at $51 a tire and some change for new lugs and hubcentric rings. Great bang for buck

EDIT:. I should add this was all brand new, nothing used. Amazon wanted $81 a wheel which is $20 cheaper than anywhere else, Walmart wanted $51 for the Yokohamas which was another $35 cheaper than anywhere else.

I bought a set of 205/55/16 and then never put them on at the caution of my shop. The issue is clearance at the spring perch on the front struts. Stock tires only have 1-1.5 inches of clearance as it is. 205/55 adds an additional inch or so of overall diameter. It’s a risky fit at that point. If I was able to mount the tires myself I’d attempt it, but I wasn’t gonna waste money on mounting and unmounting a long shot.

so I would say 205/60 is a strict no-go unless they changed things between 2010 and 2013

1 test is worth a 1,000 expert opinions. The reality is the 2009+ Fit has ample room for larger tires. I'm currently running 195/70-14 snow tires with 24.9" diameter, on 14x6 steel wheels and have approximately 1.5" clearance to the strut perch.

Depending on wheel dims and tire width, a 26.0" tire will fit up front. The only area I found to be too close is the plastic wheel liner has a bump-out between the front tire and the front door, the tire may rub this and may need to be trimmed.

I think the OP would be ok with a 205/60/16 which is ~25.7" diameter tire, however, your final drive due to taller tires may impact acceleration. (NOTE: tire chains up front would likely not fit)

id be interested in seeing your setup, and clearances. I still have those tires and would hang on to them and use them at some point if i had more to go on than eyeball measurements 😂

The 205/55-16 is 24.9" diameter, same as these tires, so you are good to go. I have about .5" clearance to the fender liner, and about 1.4" to spring perch actual (block of wood measures 1.45") and obviously you should keep about 1/2" min to strut perch.
So after measuring, a 26.0" will fit

There is plenty of side clearance, and the wheels are 14x6 and approx 40mm offset, so I think they sit out 5mm-10mm

I'm running 205/55-16R on 16x6.5 Mini Cooper wheels on 2010 Fit with no issues. Offset is 48mm.

The car definitely feels more planted than on the stock skinny tires. I hardly ever drive the car, but took it up to 80mph on the highway one night and to me it felt much more stable at high speed. I'll gladly take that over any loss of fuel economy.

way late follow up, the 205/55/16 that I originally thought wouldn't fit are now on the car, on the stock 16" sport wheels. I would not suggest going wider than 205 without spacing the wheels further out, as there is very little clearance between the inner sidewall of the rear tires and whatever nub or bolt that is on the rear torsion bar.
