Steering noise- clunk
2010 Sport, Automatic. When I have the car running and steering straight, I get a clunk noise when moving the wheel about 15 degrees from center to the left. I only get the noise on the left side. I get the sound when I move the wheel move to the left, then back to center and repeat. This is when the brakes are applied at a stop. I replaced the inner and outer tie rods. There was some play in the left inner. Now when hold the inner tie rod and have someone move the wheel from center to left, I can feel movement and hear the noise.
I am thinking I need to replace the steering rack/box. Has anyone had this issue?
You can click the google drive link below. I uploaded a video of the noise:

That’s exactly what I had. Check both inner and outer tie rods. If everything seems ok, take off the inner tie rod boot and look at the actual steering rod for play as you steer. I ended up going to a junkyard for a whole steering rack.

When you removed the subframe, did you use an engine support fixture?
ive been reading about it. Basically remove the subframe and it’s right there.
i replaced inner tie rods last week and want to re use them with the used rack I bought. If I swap the inners while the racks are off the frame, do I need the inner tie rod tool? I wouldn’t think so because a wrench would work.
thanks for you help.
