Turning Noise

I've been hearing this noise when I turn the steering wheel all the way to the right. It happens when the steering wheel is about to reach its stopping point to the right then I hear this squeaky rubbing noise on the front left tire. I checked it while turning and it's not rubbing against the fender or plastic covers. Everything is stock. Any ideas?

It might be the wheels sqeaking on the pavement. Just like when you do a burnout, they sqeak.

Hm.... they do a little more than "squeak" when you burnout :P

I dunno what that might be. I've heard of a grinding noise when the power steering fluid is low... but no squeaky

I agree - it's power steering noise. It happens in some cars when the car's steering wheel is fully turned to the right or left. This happened on my 69 Camaro, and on my wife's 93 Integra.

Is this normal, or should I get it checked out?

I think every vehicle I've ever owned has had power steering noise when the wheel was turned all the way one way or the other...including my fit.

I think most of you are referring to a belt slipping on the power steering pump when your wheel is turned all the way to the stop. The Fit has electric assist power steering,,,no belt. So I'm not saying it's not the steering but the noise usually comes when you hit the steering stop,,not just before it. An I' m not familiar with the eletric assist so it could still be in the steering, but IMHO, I would take it to the dealer if you can repeat the noise on command and have them look at it,,,

Heard the rubbing noise today at slow speed

It is not the belt. it sounds like a cable rubbing along steering shaft, or the rubber cover of where the u-joint is covered by rubber and somthing is rubbing against it. Taking it in asap, have 20,0000 miles on it now .

noise

I have about 18,000 miles on it now. I'll take it in as soon as I get back from New York. So far I've seen two Fits in uptown New York.

That soft 'sqweeee....' noise is from the steering system in my Fit. I also had it in my 1997 Prelude and my wife's 2001 Accord. So it appears to be a Honda trait related to some component in the steering system.

A little annoying. But not a deal-breaker, in my opinion.
