Brake wear indicator

Do honda fit's brake wear indicator makes sound when braking or when the car is in motion?

Background info:
1st owner of a 2013 honda fit with 58000 Km, serviced in March with dealer, and claimed the front/rear has 4mm & 2mm left.
They did not asked me to do the brake, but changed the transmission fiuld, serpenting belt & alignment.
I know nothing about car.

I'd have your dealer explain things better. They should've either recommended brakes at this time, or for a future appointment. Sounds like you will need brakes soon to me. Hope that helps!

The brake wear indicator will make noise so long as the vehicle is moving but will be more prominent when braking.

The wear indicators are only on the front disc brakes. They are bonded to the inside front brake pads so they will start screeching when they rub against the rotors when the pad thickness becomes minimal. This is intended to alert the driver that the pads need to be replaced soon. The rear brakes are drum brakes and the drum brake shoes usually last two to three times as long as the front brake pads since they do about 30% of the actual braking- compared to the front's 70%.

To confirm what the dealer told you about the brakes, I would check the brakes yourself. Lift up one end of the car and support the frame with a jack stand. If in front, remove a wheel, and inspect the front pads for pad thickness. In the rear, remove the brake drum and check shoe thickness. Remember to block the opposite rear wheel, use a jack stand under the frame and leave the emergency brake off so you can get the drum off. If the drum does not come off easily, check threads on this forum or threads on youtube for removing a Fit rear brake drum for additional procedures..
