I currently have a tire setup of 195/45/R16 and was thinking of changing them to 205/50/R16. Is there someone who has the 205/50/R16 setup and can give me any feedback on how they perform, please?
You can go to tirerack.com and look at the specs of the tire size you're currently running, the stock 185-55-16 tires and the 205-50-16. The 205-50-16 tires are close to the same height of the oem 185-55-16's, but are wider. This will keep your speedometer very close to accurate as well. With the stock offset oem Fit 16" rims, the 205's will fit no problem- unless you're excessively lowered, or are running different offset wheels I'm running '07 Fit HFP wheels which are 6.5" wide instead of the stock 6" wide '13 sport wheels, with 205-50-16 tires. Just after installing this combo I noticed very slight rubbing occasionally- but not all of the time. I haven't noticed any rubbing recently, so I suspect the slight rubbing was probably on a plastic plug on the inner front fender liner.
My stock tires were 175/65/R14 I changed the rim (but I don't know the exact width of the rim) and the new tires are 195/45/R16, but they are a bit too much of a low profile so I wanted to keep the same rim size and enlarge the tire to a 205/50/R16.
No, it is not lowered I might do it in the future duo.
I've got to admit I'm a little confused. Per your post, you have a 2012 Fit (base or sport?), and your original tire size was 14". I did a little research, and I don't see 14" tires came on a 2012 base model or sport. They were offered on a first generation '07/'08 though. You put 16" rims on your car but aren't sure the width or offset of your current 16" rims. At this point you need to remove a wheel off your car and see what you have. On the back of the rim, it should show the rim width and offset marked on the wheel. It will also tell you if it's a oem Honda wheel or maybe it's an aftermarket wheel. This info will help in figuring out a tire size for your car.
.Let me start from the beginning, I bought the car from a dealer that imports cars its a Honda Fit 2012, GE6, L1.3petrol, on the car the rims that whereon it were these 175/65/R14:
then I changed the rims and tires to an aftermarket one which are these 195/45/R16:
Know I was thinking of keeping the same rim and just changing the tire so from a 195/45/R16 it will become a 205/50/R16
It's a 7 inch width now according to the 4th pic you posted. a 205 will fit the wheel, sitting perfectly straight (not bulging or stretched). You can measure to find your offset by, well, googling how to do that. I think you need a straight edge OR just look at your current set up and decide whether you've got an extra inch or so of room at full lock of the steering wheel in either direction. (I didn't see your offset in the pics. Did I miss it?) I know +38 and +35 16x7s fit with 205/50s without rubbing. Not positive about +42.
