Loose Battery Terminal

My red battery terminal won't stay secure on my battery. Even though I tighten it, it gets loose very easily while I'm driving. Not sure if I need to replace the battery or the part that screws onto the battery. Thanks!

I mean , it doesn't look like its on all the way, but besides that , yeah. You may need to replace the terminal, after years of tightening them they wear out and are not able to be tightened to the terminal anymore. Hope this helps 👍

Ask at an auto parts store- If the terminal has just gotten thinner there may be something you can insert around the terminal to thicken it up. If not I'm sure someone will have a suggestion as to what to use.

Don't panic. This is a common issue. Try a shim of some sort.

Thanks for all replies. Shim is being shipped from Amazon as we speak. That seems to be the cheapest fix if that works. Just wasn't sure if the problem was the battery (since it's a non-oem battery from Costco) or the terminal since it's a bit rusty. Will report back.

That is a picture of it being loosened after driving. Wanted to show that for context.

Your battery is a 51R? Normal Fit battery is 151R. When I did the battery swap, the 51R post was loose. Added an adapter cable as I saw here in a post about 51R battery. A shim will also do fine.
