Recall part for parking lot repair

HI Everybody,

I had the meaning to schedule my fit for the actual recall.....

And now it's stranded in a wawa parking lot.

Any way I can talk the local dealer into giving me the part if I promise to bring back the busted one?

I did Axles on my 08 civic, would i be right to imagine the fit isn't a ton different?

This is not correct

Take the connected end off and have a buddy tow you to the dealer.

Yes certainly, buy im sure you all know better than I if there are certain things to say or do to increase the likelihood of getting help from the dealer... of course they might just tell me bring it here or pound sand...

I think that will cause the transmission to dump right?
150k miles probably on the same fluid... I am thinking replacing with all new might bring issues...

I'm sensing that you don't trust your Honda Dealer. Give them a call and they will prob send a flatbed out to pick it up...fix the axle per recall and you will be on your way.

My Honda dealer has exceptional customer service. Anytime I've brought either of my Honda's in...they ask "would you like a free loaner?".....even if it's a one hour service.
The service charges have always been fair....no complaints at all here.

Can't speak from experience, but it seems more logical asking for a mandated recall than a reimbursement. In the shop they can inspect the failed part and compare it to the OE shaft, assuring that no goofbaggery occurred, plus they can document that the thing was done in accordance with their standards, and at their own regulated expense. It wouldn't hurt to reach out first though and see if they'll be cool, or if they're busy enough to make recall work unattractive.

I wish my friend. You must not be on the East Coast. We don't treat each other like humans over here.

They called me up and said "Hey you also need axle seals. As a matter of fact that might be what caused this to fail because That's what an axle seal does helps keep the axles well lubricated, Oh but don't worry there's a recall out on this so we'll do you a solid and do the axle under that. the other side is recalled too for the anti corrosion coatinghaving defects."This was a lie. the axle failed because of the very corrosion which the vehicle was recalled for. And an axle seal does nothing but keep transmission fluid inside the transmission.

Better yet, then they wanted to charge me full price to replace the seals as if they had to take the axle again off to do it. Once the axle is off, seals are quick, certainly not a 200 dollar job.....

I took it to a different dealer this time because the last time I took it to the dealer a bunch of other stuff went wrong shortly after getting it back.

Next recall I guess I'm driving to Philly. Both south jersey dealers have scammed me....

I called honda America, very cool dude but all He could say was submit all this paperwork and maybe Honda will reimburse you.

I understand your reasoning. Having a solid, reliable dealer is very fortunate.
I hope it works out well for you.
