Best aftermarket catalytic converters?

Hey all. I recently had the stock catalytic converter stolen off of my 2008 Fit Sport. My mechanic quoted me $2500 for a new Honda one, but I can't afford that, so I started looking into aftermarket ones. My mechanic said that he would put an aftermarket one on for me, but that installing these sometimes won't cause the check engine light to go off, and so you'll fail your emissions test, which I need to do every two years in my state (Illinois) in order to renew my registration. Luckily I just did my emissions test a few weeks ago, so I won't need to worry about that for another two years. However, I'd like some advice on aftermarket catalytic converters that are least likely to cause problems, since I will probably want to sell the car in the next few years. I found ones on ebay for less than $100 (see for example: https://tinyurl.com/2t2nt6yy), but I'm willing to spend a bit more if there are higher quality ones out there for less than $500 or so that are a safer bet in terms of getting the check engine light to go off. Any help much appreciated. Thanks!

I would recommend to at least get a reputable brand (ex.: Walker). Look on Rock Auto, parts are usually as cheap as it can get (for branded parts).

Another option is to put a cheap cat, then use an O2 sensor extension so you don't have a check engine. But with that option, you will probably fail emission test. It is probably also illegal to do so in many states/countries...

RockAuto is probably about your best best for a bolt-in cat which will meet emissions. Here's the drop-down page for the 2008 Fit cats

Go used OEM if you can't afford new. But stay away from that aftermarket stuff. They never last long and is just a waste of money.
