How to identify brand of wipers?
Is there any way to identify whether I have Honda OEM wipers on a 2012 Fit? I don't see any markings or logo on them anywhere. I'd like to replace the rubber inserts (not the entire metal assembly) but I bought my Fit used, so I don't know what brand they are.
Thanks for that photo. It shows enough to determine that my small blade appears to be OEM and my large blade is definitely not. When I removed the small blade from the arm, I did find some markings in the area where the arm attaches, so I would've never noticed this while they were attached. But the markings said something like LYO 1581 12N23HD which doesn't seem to be a Honda part number
I feel like I've seen the LYO on oem Honda parts baggies from the dealer, but I do pick up parts from different vehicle dealerships every so often. It could be a specific item number versus a general part number. A call to the dealership parts department could potentially clear that up. You could just say as you did here: "I want to buy replacement wiper blade inserts for my 20__(09-12) Fit, but I don't know if the arms are original." and ask if there's any way to identify them
They may also sell the arms individually for a semi-fair sum. Alternatively, you could attempt to remove blades from your aftermarket assembly and fit new OEM blades to them. I think the magic of OEM wipers may be in the arm design and its distribution of pressure though.
I've had some aftermarket ones that don't deliver pressure evenly, even when they're new (conventional frame), and others (beam-type) that distribute evenly but too aggressively and seem to cause the wiper motor to struggle dragging them as a result.
I'll have to go back to an OEM set to see if it's any better.
