2009 Honda Fit (Base) White
Has anyone had rear license plate nuts fail? These were originally welded to the rear hatch door. I discovered that both nuts had broken loose from the hatch panel. I was lucky not to lose the entire plate.
I welded them both back on (poorly) with a Harbor Freight welder well enough to secure them. Had to add two stainless bolts that screw into the lower two, plastic inserts for more security. The two upper connections were the welded nuts, while the two lower connections are white plastic inserts.

Honda Fit 2009 (Base) Failed rear license plate nut.
Oh, our 2009 is missing those and I was wondering why the "standard" nuts that come with license plate fasteners (screws) didn't fit in those holes. That's probably why! We only have the plastic bottom nuts left, there's holes up top. If anyone figures out nuts that fit them please let me know bc I'd love to have the license plate secure with all 4 bolts to limit rattling and deter theft a bit.
Try to get some rivet nuts or nutserts. Works like a rivet you put into the hole. The rivet gun will expand the metal piece and secure it in place. The insert has a threaded hole which will accept bolts. They come in many different sizes.
I'd suggest using DreamShop.Honda.com to order if you want to pick up from a local dealer, that can often be faster.
This thread made me remember when I first bought my Fit in 2018. I was impressed at how quiet the inside was given its age and mileage, no creaks or sounds or rattles really, even over bumpy roads... and then I got my license plate and its rattling drove me crazy haha. I ended-up getting the below parts, they solved the issue for me and have been working since:
