Like the title says, I have an issue where after driving for a bit, the airbag warning light comes on. Y'know the red light with the guy getting a face full of airbag. So, that one comes on after a bit of driving regardless of whether or not someone is in the passenger seat. It stays on for the entire ride after that and does not go away until I turn the car off. I couldn't find anyone else with these certain problems either so I want to see if I can find any answers here before I shell out cash to get it scanned.
Another thing to note is that a high rate of speed tends to also set it off. Sometimes 60, sometimes 80, one time at 50. I'm not really sure what is causing it.
2011 Honda Fit Sport

Manual
No aftermarket exhaust or performance parts outside of an aftermarket master cylinder put in by a buddy to reduce rev hang
Does have an Aftermarket BOSS stereo
You've hooked up a scanner to check for old collision codes, yeah?
I'd figure you have an impact sensor exposed to wind/vibration that has something wrong with it, otherwise I can't imagine why vehicle speed would be a factor.

I haven't gotten it scanned yet. I'm assuming you can't just use any old OBD scanner, right?
To see the codes you can likely use any scanner. Alternatively, hit up an autoparts store and ask them to scan it.
Now that you mention it. Is there by chance an impact sensor in the engine bay? Is there any documentation I could find listing the location of all the impact sensors? I specifically remember this issue cropping up after I did my valve lash adjustment. I sent it to see if everything was all good and that was the first time it had come on. I remember my buddy, who I bought the car off of, was surprised as well because him and I drove together and the airbag light never cropped up until then. And he would drive it pretty spiritedly too. I'll get it scanned at an autoparts store, my cheap blue-tooth scanner didn't work sadly. But please let me know if there's any documentation you can find about that. Everything I've found is for 1st gen fits, go figure. Anyways thanks for the help.
From the 2009-2012 service manual, which I downloaded for free. There are pages and pages about the SRS system, but here's the sensor location information.
I would also check the electrical connectors under the passenger seat. If the weight sensor connection is loose you might get odd signals sent to the SRS system, and I can imagine a loose connector being jiggled around during spirited driving. If you remove the four seat bolts you can tip the passenger seat forwards or backwards enough to check.
Bumping this thread since I'm experiencing something similar (has yet to be resolved).
I started noticing my SRS airbag light coming on when I reach speeds of 65 - 75mph (might have something to do with the accelerometer in the sensor) and staying on the duration of the drive.
Funny enough, the SRS light goes away after you restart the car.
Using a BlueDriver ODB2 scanner, I pulled the SRS codes and I got: 41-11: No Signal From Driver Front Impact Sensor 42-11: No Signal From Passenger Front Impact Sensor
This only started happening after I let the car sit for about two weeks -- do you think this is potentially related to a battery issue?
I had the same bizarre issue. I solved mine here.
You'll need a OBD2 reader that can scan SRS codes to figure out which sensor is problematic.

Going to try this soon hopefully. So far EVERY single auto parts store I've called can only scan CEL codes and every shop will charge me a diag fee for even daring to have them scan the code. I have a friend who'll see if they can hook me up, but if I have to eat the cost, I'll do it for some piece of mind. Thanks for the link btw. I'll give it a look.
Alright, so after a few months of driving, it was indeed the front impact sensor. My friend managed to hook me up with a scan tool. I replaced it a bit ago and its been all cool so far. Thank you dhuang, Drew21, and Pyts for your help.
