Hi new to honda fits and I'm having an issue with my parking brake. The parking brake has never been properly working since I got the car and after a bit of work I got both rear brake drums in mechanical working order. The parking brake improved after the first work I put in but it is still only working on the passenger (right hand)side and the driver (left hand) side still isn't grabbing or even dragging when brake is fully set. Any help will be appreciated and thanks in advance.
When you say "I got both rear brake drums in mechanical working order" do you mean that you had no rear brakes previously?
The parking brake is relatively simple. A lever (the hand brake) pulls cables that engage the rear drum brakes. The main points of adjustment are the rear drum brakes themselves and the lever.
Step 1 - make sure the rear drum brakes are properly adjusted using the star wheel inside the drum. I was taught that you want the slightest hint of drag when you spin the drum by hand (without the wheel mounted). You want the level of drag to be similar between both rear wheels.
Step 2 - there is a cable adjustment nut on the parking brake lever. The specification is that the lever is properly adjusted when it takes 5-7 clicks of the lever to lock the parking brake. You have to remove the center console strip (between the seats) to access the adjustment.
Assuming you've done that procedure and you have a parking brake on only one side, it's possible that the driver's side parking brake cable is damaged. It goes through the floor just behind the parking brake lever, under the body for a bit, and then down each side of the rear beam axle to the back side of the brake drum. If you get the center console out in step 2 above, it should be obvious if there is no tension on the driver's side cable.

the original proble was a broken part in the parking brake hardware at the drums on both sides I still had regular driving brakes but the parking brake lever did nothing. So I fixed the messed up hardware and I'm beginning to think after some further research that the driver side parking brake cable is either bound up or broken and thanks for the pictures of the adjustment process.
