Parking Brake Problem
Parking Brake Problem
I have an '08 Fit and recently, when you try to use the parking brake, it does not pull all the way up....it gets "stuck" right when you start lifting the lever and doesn't move......it feels like it's tugging on something.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? I'm a tech geek however I'm not a car pro....though I am learning......
Any help would be much appreciated.
thanks

Had it been working?
If adjusted correctly it grabs tight in 5-7 clicks.
Was it feeling tight on the pull?
Sounds like the parking brake cables are fouled or have failed. Most likely need to be replaced or freed-up, however, if they're bound up replacement is most likely to solution.

I am guessing there is no easy way to check the cable is there???
The parking brake cables start at the handle and split with an equalizer and run under the car ending at each rear brake. Inspect that end and you might see what's up, it's the end most exposed to corrosion.
Parking brake mistery
I had the same problem and just "fixed" it. Don't ask me the cause. I jacked up the car an put it on stands (safety). Inspected the cable and it was ok. Reoved the tire and with the parking brake handle off I could slightly move the brake drum adn could sense that it was not stuco on the brake shoes. I pried the drum out with a flat screwdriver and it became loose again. As I said, don't ask me what was wrong it could not find anythin stuck inside the brake mechanism. It is "fixed" until nex time??? If somebody knows what is goiong on plesase let us know.
