Sudden Electrical Failure

Since New Year's, my 2013 Fit has twice failed suddenly without warning. The first thing I see is my dashboard panel has gone dark. I'm able to turn on my warning flashers (fortunately). I've been able to get the car restarted just fine - but in order to do that I have to bring it to a full stop and put the gear into Park. Both times the car drove just fine the rest of the day. I've been lucky that my traffic situation wasn't too bad, but having to stop on a freeway could get me killed. The car has a little over 138,000 miles and has been running just fine for eleven years. Could this be a loose wire or some kind of an aging chip ? Has anyone else encountered this kind of problem ? I'd like to hear from some people before I have my car looked at.

I would check battery connections and grounds in the first place.

Agree. That battery terminal fittings are notoriously bad. They could easily come loose. Then, all of a sudden, your wonderful car is dead as a door nail. Easy to fix, though.

Probably not it, but I was just watching this video and it reminded me of it:

Thanks, I'll do that ! You might guess I'm not mechanically inclined, but this sounds so simple and obvious that even I could do it.
