2009 vs 2013 engine oil viscosity

I've had my 2009 fit for 6 years. I've had 0 issues with it. I do the oil change myself. I always use 5w-20 because that's what the manual (https://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/...TK62009OMA.pdf) says to use.

I randomly came across a 2013 user's manual (https://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/...3/K61313OM.pdf) and it says to use 0w-20 oil.

Why are they different? The engines are the same.

It used to be for climate reasons (On the 09-10 depending on where the car was destined to land the oil cap would say 0w20 or 5w20)

Yes the engines are identical between the 09-14. Feel free to use 0w on the 09, I do.

I'm going to start using it during the winter. I wish I had been aware of the option before.

I’ve actually been looking for this PDF manual for a couple of days. Thanks!
