Strange Noise

I recently did the valves and spark plugs.......and then my A/C Compressor froze up and glazed the belt b4 I could disconnect the A/C

Yes.....it all comes in waves doesn't it.......

Anyway...the car runs fine....no CEL's.......but it has this loud deep 'whooshing' sound when it's cold...and mostly diminishes when she's warm.

I have a video.........if anybody has any ideas what this is.....pls post!!

Videos:

Thank you!

I'm not sure if I'm hearing what you want me to hear, but my thoughts regarding potential whooshing sounds for an idling car would start with a bad pulley somewhere in the serpentine belt system (A/C, alternator, etc). My belt tensioner pulley is going bad and I suppose some would describe that sound as a "whoosh." If you remove the serpentine belt you can spin pulleys by hand. Alternatively, if you have a steady hand you can use a long screwdriver or something similar to listen to individual pulleys while the engine is running.

Alternatively, when you move the camera over towards the engine air intake you would expect a sort of "whooshing" sound from the suck of air into the engine.

Thank you for the response!..........This noise is new.......and it's kind of loud.......seems to be coming from the center or maybe right side (from the front).........I thought it might be the alternator bearings.....will take the belt off and see if that fixes it. Almost seems to be coming from the intake somehow.......very strange......

The noise is scary enough for me to not want to drive it...............fwiw

Have you checked the engine air filter or the intake? It's quite easy for a mouse to get in and set up residence, so maybe your noise is a bunch of leaves and other crud in the air box.

Took the belt off......Started it......minimal noise. Spun the A/C Pulley.......noisy.......Looks like it's the A/C Pulley.........Might have toasted/stressed it when the A/C Compressor froze up.....And that was a 4 Seasons one........slight possibility I had it under low oil......Maybe.....otherwise it lasted about a year or so....manufacturing defect?.......Gonna install another one.....we'll see I guess....
