14? On a Sport?
14? On a Sport?
Hi! I really did search all over this forum first, but I seem to be having problems with determining if people mentioning their personal experience are referring to the Sport or the regular Fit. I have a 2010 Sport, and am trying to pick up snows on rims so I don’t have to shell out $200 for the swap each year. I see 185/65R14s (barely used Blizzak) at a good price, but I am not sure if they will work on a Sport with 16s OE. I know they’d be fine on a standard Fit. Some say check various websites to buy tires to see if they’s sell them to me but while some here are saying Discount and Tirerack will offer them 14s, when I try it they won’t which leads me to wonder if I am mixing up the standard and sport.
Please help me out?
Also if I do need 15 (or 16, but I prefer smaller for snow, but still need decent clearance), what numbers will work there for no rubbing and proper braking?

I also have a 2010 Fit Sport and have a set of old (1990s) Civic 14-inch alloy rims that fit fine, although there's not a lot of clearance between the front calipers and the wheels. I don't think there is any difference in the brake calipers between a Fit or Fit Sport. The "Sport" is mostly aspirational in this case.
Considering 14-inch wheels in the general sense, fitment will depend on the design (both the offset and shape of the wheel barrel) of the specific wheel, so if you're buying without trying then a 15- or 16-inch rim is going to be the safer option. If you can try the wheels before paying (which is what I did) then you will have your answer soon enough.
There are many websites that can give you comparable tire sizes. I prefer one that both shows and tells: https://tiresize.com/comparison/
If you're considering non-Fit wheels then the Wheel Offset Calculator under the More Size Tools tab is also useful.
Note that the 185/65R14 tires you mentioned are slightly shorter than the OEM 185/55R16 tires, if that matters to you.

Thanks for the link and the help! Am I correct in that if the diameter is less than a 3% difference either way it should work?
The previous owner ran them on a 2008 (regular) Fit…so does that mean the body is unchanged and will work? Unless the year matters, in this case as I believe 2008 is a different generation.
They are aftermarket rims (MSW)
(I will see if seller is willing to work with me on trying them on first but TBH I’m not sure I’d know what to look for to ensure it fits correctly.)

There's not a specific percentage difference that matters. Too tall or wide and they won't fit under the fender, too small and you lose ground clearance. Big or small messes with the speedometer/odometer.
If the wheels/tires you're looking at fit a 2008 Fit they will fit yours.
Trying on wheels to see if they fit is exactly how it sounds. If the wheels mount on the car and don't rub on anything (including at suspension compression and when turning the steering wheel), they fit. If you tried to mount a 13-inch rim on your Fit it wouldn't clear the front brake caliper and you would know immediately.

Had a set of winters on old 14" Honda alloy wheels. They barely cleared the caliper, but they did.
I would fear steel rims would not clear the calipers. I personally would try them before buying.
Don't forget about the offset and bolt pattern of the wheels. First gen Fit wheels would probably fit though.

Damn. Said “almost” and meant “barely”. As in I may have to wiggle that wheel on. Will post pic when I go there today. Basically getting near-new tires and rims for the cost of two new rims alone if this does work and it looks like no reason it shouldn’t. Thanks for improving my confidence!
And those are really nice
