Need more leg room - SI seats?

Hello, I bought a 2013 Honda Fit Sport 5mt last summer and love it! The only problem is that I'm 6'1" and still growing, and even with the seat all the way back my legs are cramped and I can't fully stretch them out. For short trips it's bearable, but I'm anticipating many long drives (~14 hours) in the next few years and I need to fix this.

I have spent many hours looking into solutions, and the solutions I have discovered are to buy ExtendMySeat brackets or swap in an 8th gen Civic SI seat. I don't really want to buy the brackets, because they're $350, and I've heard that SI seats are way more comfortable which would be nice.

My first question is, does a Civic SI drivers seat give more leg room than the stock seat? (I only care about the drivers seat)

Second, has anyone had any issues with insurance with brackets or swapped seats? I contacted ExtendMySeat about it, and they said to contact my insurance provider. I did, and our agent doesn't know if brackets or a different seat would be a problem. I really don't want to cause any insurance issues for myself in the future.

Thanks!

I'm kind of confused how you're having leg room issues at all. I'm 6'2 and am plenty comfortable. There's guys here I've seen up to 6'5 who fit. The wheel telescopes and tilts to make life a little easier, if you weren't aware of it.

Insurance companies do not like people screwing with safety devices, and can deny claims if they figure it out. The Si seat swap is not straightforward. The seat rails from the Fit have to be welded and installed onto the Si seat. So even if you go through the effort you probably aren't gaining legroom.

Gonna add on that I am 6'5 and I don't believe I have the seat maxed all the way out. Pretty leggy of a guy with a 38" inseam as well. I did utilize the telescoping wheel that Red05 mentioned above and it helped my knees not hit the steering wheel as much when shifting

I knew the wheel tilted, but I hadn't realized it telescoped too! That makes it a little more comfortable.
I don't think the problem is that my knees don't fit, it's that I can't really stretch my legs fully horizontal when my knees start hurting. That might be happen because my thighs are not fully resting on the seat. Maybe I just need to put something under my thighs to support them.
Good to know that I should still fit in my Fit for a while! My mom's brother is 6'8", so it is very possible that I could reach 6'5".

If I remember correctly, some people put washers under the front seat bolts to tilt the seat a bit...

I was actually wondering about that yesterday. How would insurance feel about that?

Most of the time the answer is "If they can prove it caused a failure" or something like that. There's always a small risk when you modify anything.

But I don't see how it's any different than swapping a seat entirely, or changing a steering wheel, or modifying your suspension.

We do that all the time and insurance still pays out in claims.
