I really need some suggestions on seats!!!

I hope its ok to post this question in here. I hate to say but the seats in this car are killing my back. I'm ok with the legroom as I'm only 5'8 but there's something about the backrest thats killing my back. The one thing that really bothers me is the fact that the seat bottom won't adjust up and down. On most of my previous VW's, the seat bottom would adjust up and down and I really liked that.

I commute to work around 300 miles per week so I'm in the car a total of 90 min per day. I've tried adjusting the seat every way possible but I'm still having back pains. I'm not thrilled about losing the airbag in the seat but if it saves my back and makes my driving the Fit more enjoyable, I'll do it.

I'm asking for your help in what options for other seats I have.

Thanks!

Check out the Civic Si seats. They are awesome. Go sit in the Si and check them out. ive never heard of them being put in a Fit but i was thinking about doing it and JDMChris said they will probaly Fit without a prob.

yeah im not to comfortable with the head rests. I just drive around with those super soft pillow things that wrap around your neck for long trips. Sure you may look ridiculous but the comfort they give on the longer trips > how you look

Lol, the seats in the new civic is one of the reasons I got rid of it and got the Fit instead. You could always try a seat cushion or rolling up a hand towel and placing it behind your back.

I use a lower back rest to keep my lower back propped up.

It's a cheap fix for my lower back and makes all cars more comfortable.

I bought a blacked beaded seat cover too.

Both make even long drives comfortable.

Tom.

I think I've tried it all at this point, I still can't pin point down the main culprit for the discomfort...I'll figure it out soon though!

On a side note, my Progress RSB should be here on Friday!

For anyone who is uncomfortable, the first step is to really sit upright, and with everything at a proper distance. You may not feel as cool, but backpain ain't worth any amount of coolness.

That being said, I wonder if you can get Recaros that'd fit up front. I doubt you'll find a better seat than their ergonomic seats.

I drove to minneapolis from winnipeg last summer (8hrs) and i had to sit straight up to be comfortable so when i extend my right arm, my wrist is aligned with the top of the steering wheel. I still had max legroom, it was ok although i thought honda sold a lumber seat cushion albeit over priced.
Adjustable lumber support would have been smart, i find the seats are really cheap and kills my lower back on long drives.

try sitting 3 clicks from full upright (it's going to feel weird) and drive
around 3-4 days like that. dont move it around. your body needs to
adjust to the seat somewhat, not the seat adjust to your body.

it's like a pair of glasses or shades. they feel comfy but wierd in
the beginning. after a few days you fit right in.
